Alfredo Medina, AMFT

As a bilingual therapist fluent in Spanish, Alfredo specializes in working with Veterans, First Responders, and their families. Drawing from his experience as a Navy Veteran, he intimately understands the challenges military families face during deployments and regular service duties. His 25-year career with a Southern California Sheriff's Department, where he served in various roles, gives him unique insight into the First Responder community's struggles—from the toll of shift work to the impact of challenging investigations on both personnel and their loved ones.

Alfredo's extensive field experience includes managing high-stress situations, serving both as a participant and supervisor in Deputy Involved Shootings, and handling sensitive investigations across all age groups. This background helps him understand how traumatic events can affect individuals and families.

In his therapeutic approach, Alfredo combines compassionate empathy with straightforward communication, often incorporating appropriate humor to build rapport. He utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Brief Psychodynamic techniques in his practice. Alfredo believes in creating a judgment-free environment where clients can express their concerns openly, without fear of stigma. His treatment philosophy focuses on leveraging clients' existing strengths and working collaboratively with families to enhance their natural resilience.
